Scope and approach

What you get

If only one fixture is blocked, the problem is usually in its trap or in the short pipe to the main line. If several are affected or water comes back up through the floor drain, the blockage is further down – in the drain line of your home or in the shared riser.

We work mechanically, without harsh chemicals that damage old pipes and seals. After unblocking, we run water through every fixture on the line and tell you what caused the blockage and how to stop it happening again.

Technical detail: a blockage below your floor

If water comes up through your floor drain or bath while you are not using any water but the neighbours upstairs are, the blockage is in the shared riser or in the line below your flat. Cleaning your own trap will not help then – the section below you has to be reached.

  • Finding where the blockage is – a trap, the line in your home or the shared riser
  • Dismantling, cleaning and refitting the trap, with a check of the seals
  • Mechanical cleaning of the pipe with the right tool for the type of blockage
  • Covering the area around the work and cleaning up afterwards
  • A water test of every fixture on the line after unblocking
  • An explanation of the cause and what not to put down the drain
When to call us

From the problem to the solution

The most common situations people call us about, and how we approach them.

Common problems

  • The kitchen sink drains more and more slowly because of grease that has set in the pipe
  • The bath, shower or bathroom basin gets blocked with hair and soap scum
  • The toilet overflows or drains slowly after wet wipes or a foreign object
  • Water comes up through the floor drain or the bath when the neighbours upstairs use water
  • The drain blocks again weeks after it was last cleared

How we approach them

  • With grease, we clean the whole line up to the riser, not just the trap under the sink
  • With hair and soap, we dismantle and clean the trap and check the pipe beyond it
  • With a toilet, we remove the object; if it is stuck deep inside, we take off the toilet pan and refit it
  • With a blocked riser, we arrange with the building manager or the neighbours to get to the riser's access point
  • With recurring blockages, we check the fall and condition of the pipe and propose a repair of that section

A good fit when

  • When water does not drain away or comes back up through the trap
  • When the same drain keeps blocking and you want to know why
  • When several fixtures are affected at once or the neighbours have the same problem
  • When the drain has been blocked by building debris after a renovation

Process

How the work runs

We organise the work around the specifics of the city and the property, planning access, logistics and stages.

  1. Over the phone, we find out which fixtures are not draining and whether water is coming back up

  2. On site, we check the fixtures on the line and find where the blockage is

  3. We cover the area and open the trap or the line's access point

  4. We remove the blockage with a suitable tool and flush the pipe with water

  5. We run water through every fixture, check for leaks and tell you the cause

Price

What affects the price

The price is set on site, once we have established where the blockage is and how to reach it.

If the pipe turns out to have sagged or cracked, we tell you first and do not go ahead with a repair without your consent.

See the price list
  • Where the blockage is – a trap, the line in your home, the riser or the horizontal pipe in the basement
  • Access – whether there is an access point or a trap or toilet has to be removed
  • The type of blockage – hair and soap, set grease, wipes or building debris
  • The length of the section that needs cleaning
  • The material and condition of the pipes, for example old cast-iron pipes with deposits
  • Whether parts are needed after unblocking – a new trap, seal or connector

Questions and answers

Drain unblocking in Blagoevgrad: questions and answers

With a minor blockage from hair or soap they sometimes help, but they do not dissolve wet wipes and rarely remove set grease completely. Frequent use damages old pipes and seals, and if you have already poured some in, tell us before we open the trap.

Yes. The riser is a shared part of the building, so getting to its access point – in another flat or in the basement – is arranged with the building manager or the neighbours.

Turn off the water at the affected fixtures and do not flush the toilet until it drains. If water is coming up through the floor drain, ask the neighbours upstairs not to use water for a while and lift your belongings off the floor.

Not for an ordinary blockage – we work through the trap, the toilet outlet or an access point. Breaking out is only needed when the pipe is broken or has sagged and there is no other way to reach it, and we always agree it with you first.

Common causes are grease that sets further down the line, deposits in old cast-iron pipes and sections without enough fall. After unblocking, we tell you which of these applies in your case and whether that section needs repairing.

Book drain unblocking and we will find where the blockage is.

Tell us which fixtures are not draining and whether water is coming back up – that way we can judge how urgent it is as soon as you call.
