At the site visit we agree what comes out and what stays: only the tiling or the screed too, which pipes are replaced and which fixtures you want to keep. That way the demolition stops where it should, and the next stages start on a sound base.
After the strip-out, the bare walls and floor show what was hidden – corroded pipes, damp, cracked screed. We show it to you and describe it, so the next stages are planned around the actual condition.
Technical detail: the area around the service shaft
An old cast-iron riser is brittle and can crack from an impact when the tiling around the shaft is being demolished. That is why this area is opened up carefully, and if the riser is to be replaced, this is agreed with the neighbours before the demolition.

For a standard bathroom, the strip-out usually takes one to two working days, including carrying out the waste. With several layers of tiles or a thick screed, it takes longer.
It can be included in the same order – the waste is bagged, carried out and taken away. If you have a skip or your own transport, we agree only the carrying out.
Not always. It is removed when it is cracked or hollow, or when the slope towards the floor drain has to be changed – for example, for a walk-in shower without a tray.
The bathroom is sealed off with plastic sheeting, floors and doors along the way out are covered, and we clean up after work. A little dust still remains, so it is a good idea to cover belongings in the neighbouring rooms.
Yes – we carefully remove the fixtures you want to keep and leave them in an agreed place. Old tiles are not salvaged during demolition.
