If it has aluminium wires, no earthing and no residual current protection – yes. A major renovation is the right time, because the walls are being opened anyway.
Usually longer than renovating a new home of the same size, because there is demolition, new wiring and plumbing, and straightening of the base surfaces. The actual schedule is drawn up after the site visit and includes a buffer for hidden defects.
The internal plumbing and the electrical wiring carry a 6-year warranty, and the other construction and finishing work 2 years. Installed ready-made products carry the manufacturer's warranty, and you receive a written warranty certificate for the property.
If they are old steel or cast-iron risers, it makes sense to replace them before the bathroom. They are a common part of the building, so the replacement is agreed with the neighbours above and below and with the building's owners' association.
