We inspect the roof from outside and the roof space from inside: the covering, ridges and valleys, flashings around chimneys and windows, gutters, membrane and the timber structure. If the trail of the leak is not clear, we do a water test section by section.
Finally, we explain what we found and what the options are – a local repair, partial or full replacement – and show you photos of the problem areas.
Technical detail: the water test
A water test starts at the bottom of the roof and works upwards section by section while someone watches from inside. If you start at the ridge, the water runs through all the weak points at once and its entry point cannot be identified.
