The roof is opened up in sections that are usually closed again by the end of the day, and if rain threatens, any open area is covered temporarily. This way the roof space and the ceiling below are not left exposed to the weather.
The new covering – roof tiles or metal – is chosen to suit the pitch, the structure and the look you want. Flashings around chimneys, valleys, roof windows and eaves are made new rather than carried over from the old roof.
Technical detail: counter-battens
Counter-battens lift the battens above the membrane and leave a channel through which any water that gets under the covering drains to the eaves, while air ventilates the roof. Without them, water is held along the battens and they rot.

Eternit contains asbestos and is removed following a special procedure – with safety measures and disposal of the waste as hazardous. We confirm this at the roof inspection and plan it separately.
