Scope and approach

What you get

Good fitting starts before the order: the opening, the wall thickness and the finished floor level determine the frame size and the opening direction. That is why we measure once the plaster is done and it is clear what the floor covering will be.

The frame is fixed plumb with low-expansion foam, and the spreaders stay in place until the foam has set, so the frame does not bow. The door leaf is then adjusted to close softly, without rubbing, with an even gap all round.

Technical detail: when to measure the opening

The frame is chosen according to the finished opening and the wall thickness including plaster and tiling, and its height according to the finished floor level. Measuring before these stages often ends with a door that does not fit.

  • Measuring the openings and wall thickness and confirming the opening direction before the order
  • Removal of the old doors and frames, including the metal frames in prefab panel blocks
  • Correcting the opening – cutting it larger, narrowing it or repairing the edges
  • Fitting the frame plumb and true with low-expansion foam and spreaders
  • Hanging and adjusting the door leaf, and fitting the lock and architraves
  • Cleaning off foam and dust, and carrying out the old doors
When to call us

From the problem to the solution

The most common situations people call us about, and how we approach them.

Common problems

  • A door that swings open or shut by itself because the frame is not plumb
  • A door leaf that rubs on the floor or the frame
  • Architraves that do not sit flush against uneven walls and leave gaps
  • Old metal frames built into the walls of prefab panel blocks
  • Doors already bought that do not fit the opening or open the wrong way

How we approach them

  • We fit the frame with a spirit level and check it is plumb in both directions
  • We leave an even gap around the door leaf and the necessary clearance above the finished floor
  • We prepare the edges of the opening so the architraves sit tight
  • We cut out the old metal frame and repair the opening before fitting the new one
  • If a door you have already bought does not fit, we assess whether the opening can be adjusted

A good fit when

  • When you are replacing the old doors during a home renovation
  • When all the doors in a new home are to be fitted after the floors are laid
  • When you want a concealed frame or a sliding door, which needs to be planned early
  • When the doors are already bought and you need precise fitting

Process

How the work runs

We organise the work around the specifics of the city and the property, planning access, logistics and stages.

  1. Site visit to measure the openings, the wall thickness and the finished floor level

  2. Removing the old doors and frames and preparing the openings

  3. Fitting the frame plumb and true, with foam and spreaders until it sets

  4. Hanging and adjusting the door leaves, and fitting the locks and architraves

  5. Checking the closing and the gaps, cleaning and handover

Price

What affects the price

The price is set after a site visit to the openings, because their preparation and the type of doors matter more than the number of doors.

The final cost is confirmed after a site visit to the openings and once the doors have been chosen.

See the price list
  • Number and type of doors – with adjustable or concealed frames, sliding
  • Removal of the old frames, especially metal ones, and repair of the openings

Questions and answers

Interior door installation in Burgas: questions and answers

After the floor covering is laid and the walls are painted – that way the gap under the door leaf is accurate and the doors do not get dirty. The exception is concealed frames, which are built in before skim coating.

Yes. We recommend that we measure the openings and wall thickness before you order, so that the frame size and opening direction are right.

The metal frame is cut out, the opening is cleaned and repaired with plaster, and once that has dried the new frame is fitted. In the quote this is listed as a separate item.

The door itself carries the manufacturer's warranty. We are responsible for the fitting – with a written 2-year warranty.

With a prepared opening, fitting a standard door usually takes a few hours. Removing a metal frame and repairing the opening adds time, because the plaster has to dry.

Book a site visit and we will measure the openings before you order the doors.

You will receive a written quote for removal, preparing the openings and fitting each door.
