Scope and approach

What you get

A full water heater is a heavy load for a wall, so we first check what the wall is made of and choose the anchors to suit it. On the cold-water supply, we fit a shut-off valve and a safety valve, and we route the drips that the valve releases during heating to the drain.

The electrical connection is made by a qualified electrician in line with current safety requirements – a dedicated circuit with earthing, a suitable circuit breaker and a residual-current device (RCD). Before it is switched on for the first time, the water heater is filled and bled of air, because if it is switched on empty, the heating element can burn out.

Technical detail: the shut-off valve and the safety valve

A shut-off valve is not fitted between the safety valve and the water heater – if someone closes it, the pressure that builds up during heating has nowhere to escape. The shut-off valve goes before the safety valve, and the drips from the safety valve are routed to the drain.

  • Draining and removing the old water heater, if there is one
  • Anchoring to suit the wall – concrete, brick or reinforced drywall
  • A shut-off valve and safety valve on the cold-water supply, with the drips routed to the drain
  • Connection to a dedicated circuit with earthing and an RCD
  • Filling and bleeding the air before the first switch-on
  • Checking the connections for leaks during the first heat-up and explaining how to use the water heater
When to call us

From the problem to the solution

The most common situations people call us about, and how we approach them.

Common problems

  • The safety valve drips all the time or is missing altogether
  • The old water heater leaks from the tank or the flange and needs replacing
  • The water heater trips the circuit breaker or the RCD
  • The wall is drywall or hollow brick and it is not clear whether it will hold
  • The water heats slowly and the water heater is noisy because of limescale

How we approach them

  • We fit a new safety valve and, if the mains pressure is high, a pressure-reducing valve as well
  • We fit the new water heater to the existing connections, usually in a single visit
  • We check the heating element, the connections and the circuit to find where the fault is
  • For drywall, we plan reinforcement or a supporting frame; for hollow brick, anchors designed for hollow materials
  • We assess whether the old water heater is worth cleaning or whether it makes more sense to replace it

A good fit when

  • When you are replacing an old water heater that leaks or does not heat
  • When you are installing a water heater in a new position and water and power need to be run to it
  • When you are renovating a bathroom and want the water heater's position and anchors planned before the tiling
  • When, besides the water heater, a sink, toilet or mixer taps need to be fitted

Process

How the work runs

We organise the work around the specifics of the city and the property, planning access, logistics and stages.

  1. We confirm the type and position of the water heater and check the wall, the water connection points and the power supply

  2. We turn off the water, then drain and remove the old water heater, if there is one

  3. We fit anchors suited to the wall and hang the water heater

  4. We connect the water through a shut-off valve and safety valve, and the power to a protected circuit

  5. We fill it, bleed the air, switch it on and check the connections during the first heat-up

Price

What affects the price

The price depends on whether the water connections and power supply are already in place and on the type of wall, so we confirm it once we have seen the location.

If, during removal, the old valves or pipes turn out to need replacing, we tell you before going ahead.

See the price list
  • The type and capacity of the water heater – vertical, horizontal or a small kitchen unit
  • Whether there is an old water heater to drain and remove
  • The type of wall and whether reinforcement or a supporting frame is needed
  • Whether the water connections are ready or new pipes have to be run
  • Whether there is a dedicated earthed circuit or a new one has to be run from the electrical panel
  • Whether a pressure-reducing valve, new valves or other parts are needed

Questions and answers

Water heater installation in Burgas: questions and answers

Yes. Water expands as it heats and the valve releases a little of it – that is why the drips are routed to the drain. If it drips all the time, even when the water heater is not heating, the mains pressure is high or the valve needs replacing.

When the connections and power supply are ready, a replacement usually takes a few hours. If a new circuit from the electrical panel or new pipes are needed, the timeframe is confirmed at the site visit.

Only with reinforcement – a full 80-litre water heater weighs over 100 kilograms and ordinary drywall plugs cannot carry it. The reinforcement is planned when the wall is built, or a supporting frame is added later.

Yes – sinks, toilets, mixer taps and showers, together with the water heater or separately. When the water is turned on, we check the traps and connections for leaks.

Yes, but an instantaneous water heater needs much more power than a standard one and a dedicated circuit with a thicker cable. We check whether your home's supply allows it, and if the power capacity needs increasing, we tell you what steps to take with the electricity distribution company.
